  • The Constitution of the Southern Cross Republic is the supreme law of the Southern Cross Republic. It is the foundation and source of the legal authority underlying the existence of the Southern Cross Republic and the government of the Southern Cross Republic. It provides the framework for the organization of the South Crossic government and for the relationship of the government to the provinces, to citizens, and to all people within the Southern Cross Republic. The Constitution was ratified on February 6, 1912, by the Constituent Assembly. In 1910, after the proclamation of the Portuguese Republic, the South Crosser republicans and the nationalists unified in a new government and negociated by the need of a new republic and a more democratic constitutional text and, in October 1911, the representative Aloísio Guimarães opened the sessions of the National Constitutional Convention, composed of 27 members. The promulgation of the Constitution marked the new republic consolidation.
