The Pacifica State Ravens men's basketball program refers to the men's basketball teams representing Pacifica State University in Firchdale, PC, initiated with the first Ravens basketball team in 1940. The Ravens became a shocking Cinderella team in 1997 when, as a 7-seed, they defeated three No. 1 seeds to win a national title, becoming the first team seeded lower than a No. 5 to win the tournament. In 1999, they defeated defending champion and storied Kansas in the championship game (one that featured the past two champions) to win their second national title. While it was their last appearance in a title game to date, it was their second of eight Final Four appearances between 1997-2011. During that span, the Pacifica State Ravens have won nine PCC regular season championships (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010) and have won six PCC tournament championships (1998, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2010). Notable former PacState players including NBA players such as Maurice Johnson, Tom Fordham, Mike Lawrence, Shane Silver, and Mischa Kodonov. The Pacifica State Ravens are coached by Jim Valenti, currently in his eighteenth season. They play at Barker Fieldhouse on the Pacifica State campus.
