| - The Day of the Tears of Fire was one of the darkest days in the history of Irollan. Brythigga, the Mother of Trees, was set on fire and burned to the ground, leaving a blackened scar on the earth were nothing grew ever again. Arniel, high king of the Elves, was caught in the fire, as was his family, and they all perished. The place where Brythigga had stood was removed from all maps, and no Elf would go there ever again. Another Mother of Trees was consecrated, deep within the forest, but no outsider was ever told where it was located.

The Dark Elves were blamed for the terrible crime, but Vaniel, Arniel's successor, offered Tuidhana and her people safe passage out of Irollan for one week. After that, he would invade her kingdom and kill anyone that remained. Tuidhana ordered her subjects to leave, but she herself chose to remain behind with a small force of devoted followers and die as a martyr when the time was up. In 586 YSD, Vaniel discovered that the fire had actually been the work of Demons, and that the Dark Elves were innocent. He sent emissaries to apologize to them, offering them amnesty and a chance to return home, but they refused. The Dark Elves eventually ended up in Ygg-Chall. The place where Brythigga had stood was removed from all maps, and no Elf would go there ever again. Another Mother of Trees was consecrated, deep within the forest, but no outsider was ever told where it was located.
