- This article is about the ritual. For the item used to help forage, see Dowsing rod. Dowsing Rod is a 1st-level ritual.[PrP:157] You transform a stick or other natural object into a dowsing rod. When you do so, name a natural feature of the environment, such as mountains, rivers, forests, or caves. The dowsing rod points the way to the nearest place that fits the description. You can't name a specific place, such as Mount Baneflame, and the rod can't find magically concealed locations. When you reach the destination, the ritual is discharged.
- Dowsing Rod is a quest reward from File:Neutral 15.png [72] The Nefarious Clam Master....
- In the Raven's Cove Story Quest, Dr. Bellrog orders the pirate to find the 3rd idol hidden in El Patron's Mine long ago by the dog of El Patron's Crew. The rod has to be constructed first, by gathering the teeth of 13 Fire Bats. Clicking the Dowsing Rod button tells the location of the item from the character's position. The location it guides you to are dig spots. The Dig Spot however may not be the first place to find the idol, and so the rod takes the player to other locations if not found in one place. The dig spots of the mine are marked in the following map: File:Dowsing.jpg
- This article is about the item. For the ritual to locate natural terrain, see Dowsing Rod. A dowsing rod gives a +2 bonus to nature checks to forage for food an water. It costs 20 gp, and weighs 5 pounds.
- The Dowsing Rod is not specifically required to beat the game, but collecting the 800 arrowheads necessary to purchase the Cobweb Duster (which is necessary to gain access to the Milkman Conspiracy and further levels) is nigh impossible without having obtained one.

- The Dowsing Rod is not specifically required to beat the game, but collecting the 800 arrowheads necessary to purchase the Cobweb Duster (which is necessary to gain access to the Milkman Conspiracy and further levels) is nigh impossible without having obtained one. To find deep arrowheads, run around the campgrounds with the dowsing rod equipped listening to the sound. The rod will glow purple when pointed in the direction of a nearby arrowhead cache, and the sound it emits will become inchreasingly high-pitched the closer you are to an arrowhead cache. Follow the purple glow to the spot where the pitch of the sound is highest and rapidly hit the use key to extract the arrowheads.
