| - Rose was out among the townspeople, the other solars obsessing about battle plans, preparations and how best to kill skeletal pirates. She smiled, war really was not her strength. When she looked at these people's eyes and how they changed when they noticed her presence, she knew what her strength was. It was an amazing thing, to see how their eyes were dull when they laboured, how they lighted up when she came near them and how hope, passion and love shone out of them when she talked, sang or just listened to them. Her strength was inspiration, making these good people believe in a better future, a future without the Burnt Man, a future without the Guild, a future with the solar exalted.

She had started speaking to a few young boys who were arguing over some strange riddle Grey Wolf had told them, told them of passion, of vision and of what was right. The cryptic wisdoms forgotten as they were enraptured by her words, words that told a tale of future glory, of life without hunger and poverty, of golden heroes with powers unsurpassed by god or spirit. And in their eyes too, she saw how confusion and petty squabbling gave way to passion, strength and love. As she talked, other people came to listen to her words, and all of those who listened became just a bit taller, just a bit more sure of themselves, and a got just a hint of the golden radiance that seemed to emanate from her.
