Only four of the eight wells are identical — they happen to be bonafide industrial mining wells. The other four are kitbashed from an assemblege of smaller or salvaged generators from throughout the quadrant. One is rumored to be from an Interdictor and heavily modified. All eight are rudimentarily navigable, and are nudged about on their orbits so as to effectively push any hazardous astronomical bodies away from the planet. While Krittain's status has no doubt improved over time, and technology become more attainable, so as to consider replacing the wells with proper shield generators, the Krittish have flatly refused. Many citizens look upon the wells as just another quirky badge of honor for their world.
