Prehistoric Path is the thirty-ninth level of Donkey Kong Country Returns, as well as the second level of the Cliff (Donkey Kong Country Returns). This level takes place on a high mountain, where the Kongs (Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong) must ride in a Minecart over many falling rock platforms through most of the level. The area around the heroes is constantly changing, with platforms moving or falling and Skellyrexes riding in Minecarts (much like how Mole Miners ride in Minecarts in (Crazy Cart, and some of the Minecart levels in the Cave. A sticky substance known as tar (well, you all should know about tar already), is under some parts of the track, causing some of the platforms to slowly sink into the tar with the Kongs' weight, only to rise back up again when the heroes jump off of it. abstract	Prehistoric Path is the thirty-ninth level of Donkey Kong Country Returns, as well as the second level of the Cliff (Donkey Kong Country Returns). This level takes place on a high mountain, where the Kongs (Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong) must ride in a Minecart over many falling rock platforms through most of the level. The area around the heroes is constantly changing, with platforms moving or falling and Skellyrexes riding in Minecarts (much like how Mole Miners ride in Minecarts in (Crazy Cart, and some of the Minecart levels in the Cave. A sticky substance known as tar (well, you all should know about tar already), is under some parts of the track, causing some of the platforms to slowly sink into the tar with the Kongs' weight, only to rise back up again when the heroes jump off of it. Additionally spikes attached to large objects holding large, prehistoric dinosaur eggs are placed in tight spaces, having the Kongs duck (crouch down) in the cart to avoid hitting them and losing an Extra Life Balloon. Tar is a very dangerous obstacle which should be avoided at all costs in this level, for if the heroes fall into the lake of tar below while riding through the level, they will instantly die and lose an Extra Life Balloon. While most of the level takes place in a Minecart, the beginning takes place on land, having the heroes travel over some sinking platforms over a pond of tar. Near the level's end, a large, prehistoric dinosaur egg breaks apart from the wall, and the Kongs have to ride on top of it, and later inside of it, while avoiding the enemies and tooth-like bones protruding from the ground. Enemies in this level include walking and riding in Minecart Skellyrexes, Tiki Buzzes, Tiki Torks, and Flaming Tiki Buzzes. In Time Attack mode, a time of 1:34:00 is needed to get a gold medal, a time of 1:35:00 to earn a silver medal, and a time of 1:37:00 for a bronze medal.
