Dual Vulcan Kinetic Autoguns on two turrets (one on the top, one below) enable 360 degree attacking force, making these Gunships very effective weapons against most strike craft. Each gun fires fast projectiles capable of destroying Assault Craft squadrons in a matter of shots. In very large numbers, Gunships can also dish out significant amounts of damage to frigates. Gunships are excellent ship escorts, due to their speed and heavy armor. Also, they provide an excellent screen for frigates and Capital Ships. As strike craft class vessels, Gunships can be reinforced and repaired for free inside hangar bays and without any resource-collecting disruptions, making them arguably the most versatile class in the game. Several squadrons of Gunships combined with several squadrons of Bombers is an extremely lethal force. The Gunships handle enemy strike craft, who are extremely weak at counterattacking them, while the Bombers handle larger targets, who are extremely weak against them.
