| - Brynhildr was a princess, a Shield-maiden, and was said to be a Valkyrie who disobeyed Odin. Stripped of her Valkyrie powers, she was put into a deep slumber, on a castle on top of a mountain surrounded by a magic fire, and can only awakened by a brave man with a kiss, which she was by Sigurd, the dragon slayer. With Sigurd, she had a daughter; Aslaug.
- Brynhildr (ブリュンヒルデ, Buryunhirude) is a Tome that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. The personal tome of Leo, Brynhildr is described as a tome that can manipulate earth, gravity and life, summoning a small grove of trees to ensnare a selected enemy target when used in battle.

- Also spelled Brunhild, Brünnhilde, and Brynhild she is a Valkyrie and a shieldmaiden of Norse lore. In the Volsunga Saga she was ordered to fight for one of two kings, choosing the younger king Agnar instead of Odin's preferred king. She was condemned to live life as a mortal woman. He then imprisoned her in a castle behind a wall of shields in the Alps, where she shall sleep surrounded by a ring of fire until a man saves and weds her. The man who saved her was Siegfried and they would then wed. The two would eventually be tricked, which lead to Brynhildr manipulating Siegfried's death. It would end in her willing herself in order to die in the funeral pyre he was in. The two would never be apart again as they go to Hel.
- The most notable Valkyrie in the Saga of the Völsungs (Völsunga saga) was Brynhildr. A similar story also told in the Nibelunglied, where she is Brunhild, and later adapted into Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. She was ordered to decide the outcome of a fight between the kings Hjalmgunnar and Agnar. Although she knew Odin preferred to former, she decided in favour of the latter. For this, Odin punished her, making her live the life of a mortal woman and imprisoning her in a castle behind a wall of shields on the mountain Hindarfjall. She sleeps surrounded by a ring of flames, waiting for a man to rescue and marry her.

For this Odin condemned her to live the life of a mortal woman, and imprisoned her in a remote castle behind a wall of shields on top of mount Hindarfjall, where she sleeps in a ring of flames until any man rescues and marries her. The hero Sigurðr Sigmundson (Siegfried in the Nibelungenlied), heir to the clan of Völsung and slayer of the dragon Fafnir, entered the castle and awoke Brynhildr by removing her helmet and cutting off her chainmail armour.
