In 2009, Stu Branoff and David Capurro turned the contest over to Chris Allen, who also runs YoYoSkills.com. The 2011, 2012 and 2013 California State Yo-Yo Championships were held on March 5th at the Westfield Downtown Plaza in Sacramento, California. The 2011 and 2012 contests saw record-setting cash prizes. At the 2013 contest, Chris announced his departure from the contest and handed organizational duties to Johnnie DelValle. JD ran the 2014 contest in the same location and plans the same for future events.
