Kaminoans were a tall, thin bipedal species with pale blue skin from the aquatic world of Kamino. Centuries prior to the Invasion of Utapau of 22 BBY, the Kaminoans were a religious people. Their faith-based government, the Kingdom of Kamino, ruled much of the Wild Space region of the galaxy. However, after the Great Flood that nearly destroyed the Kaminoan civilization, the government's final ruler, Bacatine, declared that empires based solely on faith were unsustainable. Bacatine began a series of reforms aimed at making science, not religion, the central aspect of the Kaminoan culture.

  • Kaminoans were a tall, thin bipedal species with pale blue skin from the aquatic world of Kamino. In the years that followed Bacatine's reforms, the Kaminoans embraced science and became cloners, hoping to preserve and create life everywhere. This was because the Great Flood, which had submerged Kamino's continents and caused the Kaminoans to construct and live in cities above the oceans, taught them that life was precious and could have been taken at any time. In 32 BBY, the Kaminoans, at the behest of supposed Jedi Master Sido-Dyas, began creating a clone army to be used by the Galactic Republic.
