The Empire of Santhenar was the realm ruled by God-Emperor Jal-Nish Hlar from 209 ATM, and maintained by his most trusted lieutenant General Klarm for a short time in 219 ATM. The God-Emperor maintained his realm through the use of the Profane Tears; using their immense power to place a stranglehold upon the people of Santhenar. However, after the death of Jal-Nish Hlar his son Cryl-Nish Hlar established a far more benign form of democratic government which allowed for the separate lands of Santhenar to retain some sovereignty, whilst keeping the empire intact.
