The Corellian Engineering ZD-9300 Corellian-class Star Destroyer is, quite simply, the fastest Star Destroyer made prior to the Battle of Endor. It was originally made during the rise of the Empire, and enjoyed moderate popularity in the system fleets of a number of Core Worlds as the backbone of the fleet. There is hangar space for 24 starfighters plus 3 small transports or 36 starfighters only. Designed as a fleet action ship, not a planetary assault ship like the Imperial and Victory ships, it has berthing for only 150 troops plus 20 VIP's and a 30 person brig (ostensibly for pirates and smugglers).

abstract
  • The Corellian Engineering ZD-9300 Corellian-class Star Destroyer is, quite simply, the fastest Star Destroyer made prior to the Battle of Endor. CEC usually trains the initial crews of all purchasing fleets, so most ZD-9300's tend to have skilled crews. Ships in the direct service of Corellia itself have expert crews. Very few systems have more than 2 of these ships, and only the richest systems can even dream about these ships, let alone purchase and maintain them. When Palpatine became Emperor, CEC was forced to shut down production of the ZD-9300, but their high value and sturdiness ensured that they remained in system fleets until the Emperor dissolved the Senate. After this, most Moffs "Imperialized" the system fleets, and the flagship ZD-9300's were taken into Imperial service or (more often) scuttled by their crews. The result is that almost all of the ZD-9300's were destroyed by the beginning of the New Republic, though with their current state of independence, CEC has welcomed the new production of these vessels.
