The remaining 50,000 troops are sent south to join the newly formed Army of the Transmissiisippii. 1866: Washington falls to CS troops and is nearly destroyed by the following battle between the ANV and AP, which ends in a Confederate victory, and the US government is taken as prisoner s of war and forced to make the Union itself surrender and soon the Congress ratifies the Confederate written Treaty of Richmond. 1867: Kentucky, Maryland, and South California join the Confederacy as the 12th, 13th, and 14th states. The territories of Arizona (OTL south New Mexico and Arizona), and New Mexico (OTL north New Mexico and Arizona), send delegations to the Confederate Congress for ratification. 1868: The CSA begins a period of self imposed isolation. New Mexico and Arizona join the Confederacy as the 15th and 16th states. Other: Cuban rebels manage to capture the governor of the Island and his advisors thanks to secret aid from the Confederacy, and forces him to sign a Treaty granting the new Republic of Cuba independence, which is recognized by the CSA, Colombia, and Mexico almost immediately, Mexico, Colombia, and later, the Confederation of Central America, soon force Spain to recognize Cuba’s freedom by threat of war, which the CSA soon joins in. 1869: Cuba asks to become a CS protectorate and ally, and the CSA accepts in return for a naval base in Guantonomo Bay. 1870: The first telegraph line from Washington and Richmond to El Paso and Los Angeles is completed as well as a transcontinental railroad. 1871: Mexico is freed of Maximillian and the CSA invades and occupies the states of Chihuahua, Sonora, Baja California, and Baja California Sure as well as parts of Coahuila before negotiating a deal with the Mexican rebels that they will help force out the French in return for the occupied states and the CSA withdrawing from Coahuila as well as proper payment for the lost territory and the promise of the Mexican citizens being allowed to keep there rights, which the CSA accepts, and pledges to protect Mexico from foreign nations. 1872: Chihuahua, Sonora, Baja California, and Baja California Sure join the CSA as its 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th states, (the two Baja California’s are renamed North Baja and South Baja.) The Foreign Citizenship bill is passed which gives all peoples in captured or purchased territories equal rights with Confederate citizens as well as Confederate citizenship, greatly pleasing the Mexican peoples in the new Confederate states. 1873:
