The Xitai Trade Star is one of the most recently constructed trade stars, and for now the only one outside Dominion space. Its existence is a logical consequence of the heavy trading between the Kartanin Dominion and the Black Star Confederacy, but the project has been delayed heavily until all legal and administrative matters have been negotiated and finalized. While the Kartanin gave the matter as much attention as they did to most overly complicated contracts and treaties that didn't directly affect them - namely, very little - the Nitaaru themselves and Confederate representatives discussed applicable trade law and jurisdiction over years, into the very finest details. While the Kartanin gave the matter as much attention as they did to most overly complicated contracts and treaties that didn't directly affect them - namely, very little - the Nitaaru themselves and Confederate representatives discussed applicable trade law and jurisdiction over years, into the very finest details. In the end result, the station is almost completely subjected to Confederate law, with some minor exceptions to accommodate the Nitaaru and to expedite customs. The station is just at the boundary of Confederate space, in a wide orbit around the gas giant Karemma VI. It is meant to channel all trade between the BSC and the Dominion, thus greatly simplifying and concentrating customs before traffic spreads out into other systems. Travellers or traders intending more direct routings may do so with prior permission on a case by case basis. Its importance demands a respectable amount of military and police presence, which has also led to a rise of other activities in the well protected system. A score of gas miners, whose activity is mostly concentrated on Karemma VI, has made the trade star their base of operations. Xitais Dominion opposite is the Nuura Trade Star, orbitting the world of Drillaria. Ardustaar Travel is headquartered on the station.
