It was a pre-production variant, the Do 335 A-0, and was the second of those to be built. The aircraft was assembled on April 16th, 1945 and captured by the Allies on April 22nd, 1945 at a Dornier plant in southern Germany. It was later sent to the United States for testing. 240102 is now restored and on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, an extension of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.
