| - Mark Peter Davis (born March 28, 1979) is a New York-based entrepreneur, venture capitalist, blogger and community organizer. Due to his mix of investment and operational experience, Davis is actively involved in the startup community serving as a mentor to many entrepreneurs. Davis is currently the CEO & Co-Founder of Kohort as well as a Venture Partner at High Peaks Venture Partners. Career: Davis is currently the CEO & Co-Founder of a venture-backed startup Internet company focused on facilitating group interaction. Davis is also currently a Venture Partner at High Peaks Venture Partners, an early stage investment firm that invests in Internet companies. Prior to co-founding Kohort and joining High Peaks, he was a venture capitalist at DFJ Gotham Ventures, where he invested in Internet companies. Davis’ venture capitalist and angel investments have included: ADstruc, Drop.io (sold to Facebook), Medialets, SimpleReach, SailThru, Single Platform (sold to Constant Contact), STELLAservice, Warby Parker, and Yipit. Davis has been listed as one of the 100 most influential digital New Yorkers by Business Insider. Before becoming a venture capitalist, he founded Zotspot, an internet search destination, and advised Fortune 1000 companies and private equity firms on the attractiveness of acquisition targets while at both KPMG and Bain & Company. Community: Davis founded the Columbia Venture Community, an organization that facilitates education and networking for student, alumni and employee entrepreneurs affiliated with Columbia University. The group has grown to become the largest entrepreneurial community associated with the university. Since founding the Columbia Venture Community, Davis launched a similar organization called the New York Venture Community, which is designed to provide similar support to entrepreneurs in the broader New York region. He has also helped organizers at other universities and regions start communities modeled after the Columbia Venture Community and the New York Venture Community. In addition to founding these communities, Davis is an active supporter of other startup organizations. He is a member of the Entrepreneur Board of Venture for America, an Advisory Board member at Techies Give Back and a Mentor at TechStars, Entrepreneur’s Roundtable Accelerator, Founder Labs, Enstitute and the New York Venture Fellows program. Blogging: Davis publishes a blog that focuses on startup topics such as fundraising and startup operations since 2007. His content has been syndicated on the Wall Street Journal, Inc, Business Insider, Mashable, OPENforum and others. Personal Life: Davis completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at Duke University and received his MBA from Columbia Business School.
