Baldwin I (French: Baudouin I, Dutch: Boudewijn I) was King of the Belgians. He was born on 7 September 1930 in Laeken, Belgium, son of Crown Prince Leopold of Belgium (later King Leopold III of the Belgians) and Countess Astrid Bernadotte af Wisborg. He became King of the Belgians upon the death of his father on 25 September 1983, and reigned for the rest of his life. He died on 31 July 1993 in Motril, Spain. He was succeeded as King of the Belgians by his brother Albert II.
