The Horn of Africa (HOA) is a peninsula in Eastern Africa that juts for hundreds of kilometers into the Arabian Sea, and lies along the southern side of the Gulf of Aden. It is the easternmost projection of the African continent. The term also refers to the greater region containing the countries of Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia.

- Apart from the eastern part of the map, there is not much water on the map. Still, there are no shallows in the Nile, so in order to cross it players must travel to the Lake Victoria where there is grassy land, or build ships. Arabia can also only be reached with ships. The mainland is rather open with mostly loose acacia forests scattered over it. The only larger forests are in the south surrounding the Lake Victoria.
