Patrick Innes was elected to the Senate in 3148. He had previously served as the Governor of the Baltusian Bank System from 3133 until 3147. After Roseline Kosciusko-Morizet resigned as leader of the Free Democrats, Innes decided to run for the leadership. He was quickly the frontrunner in the contest and most were surprised when he didn't win a majority on the first round. Pundits were also surprised that Lou Borja's did as well as he did against Innes. Because of the closeness of the race Innes named Borja's to the Deputy Leadership.

  • Patrick Innes was elected to the Senate in 3148. In the 3152 elections, Innes had been performing strongly in the polls and most predicted that he would be placed in the runoff. However, he was surprisingly eliminated in the first round by 1.46%. Despite his loss, Innes saw the party gain seats in the Senate. Shortly after the elections, senior officials within the party began to question the command that Innes had over the party. In September 3152, Defence Minister Emmeline Laliberté publicly called for his resignation. Support for his leadership began to drop dramatically and he decided to step down after Prime Minister Patricia Mazuret declared her loyalty to him but asked for an open leadership contest. Innes remained leader until a successor was picked and resigned from the Senate soon after. He never again ran for office and instead returned to the Baltusian Bank System where he became a member of the National Board of Directors.
