Not the least of these had been his command to move the entire royal household to Minas Anor. In this, like other matters, Tarondor was well advised by his uncle Vinyaran, the brother of Minastan. Vinyaran might easily had claimed the throne for himself, but instead, he ensured Tarondor's safe passage to power. The King had a good sense of the worth and motivation of counsel offered to him and had rid the court of several schemers making a few enemies but many more loyal friends.

Tarondor's biggest looming problem was his unhappy marriage. He understood the importance of his choice for his bride - since the memory of the Kin-strife still burned deep in all Gondorians, but unfortunately he had fallen in love with Fimaléa the daughter of one of the three Dúnadan Lords of Edhellond (the Elf-haven near Lond Ernil). Since she was but minor nobility and (worse) was Half-elven (S."Peredhil") Vinyaran chose to wed a more noble and acceptable lady: Mírien of Nan Requain. She was the youngest sister of Meriel, the wife of Edrahil, the Prince of Dol Amroth. Her nieces Merien and Edhetariel, were the daughters of Celdrahil who resided in Minas Anor in attendance to the King's Court.
