  • The China Dragons are a professional team based in Shanghai, China. The team plays in the Asia League and was initially founded in 2007 as the China Sharks out of a merger of Changchun Fuao and Hosa. The team represents virtually 100% of the Chinese National Team and plays its home games at the Sports Center Pavilion for Shanghai Universities and Students in Shanghai. The team was, from 2007 to 2009, affiliated with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, who sent several minor league players and coaches to the team to help foster the development of chinese hockey. The team hopes to help develop the level of play of Chinese players enough so that the national team can participate in the Olympics in the long term. They still have a long way to go however, with the sport remaining largely unknown in the country and the team being a perennial bottom dweller in the Asia League, its level being fairly below that of its Korean and Japanese counterparts.
