The budgerigar, also called the budgie or parakeet, is a small parrot native Australia, which is commonly kept as a pet throughout the world. In 1995, a budgerigar named Bungy who lived at the Five Feathers in Barnsley, Yorkshire made the news for learning how to water ski.

- In the wild Budgies are green with a yellow mask (the head) and black shoulder spots. In captivity the have been bred to almost any color imaginable except red and black. After the wild green color, blue chest with with white wings covered by black marks and a white mask is next most common. Lutino, or all yellow, and Albino, or all White are other common colors.
