  • John Paul II (born 18th May 1920) is the current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and Sovereign of the State of the Vatican City. He was elected on the 16 October 1978 in the year of 3 Popes. He succeeded Pope John Paul I who died 33 days into his papacy.
  • Pope John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyla in Wadowice (Poland), was the religious leader of the Catholic church, from 1978 until his death in 2005. He made his first appearance in the Season Four episode, "Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?".
  • His concern for the poor, the weak and those who suffer, his firm stances against warfare, violence, and capital punishment, his views of evolution and his support for world debt forgiveness, combined with his willingness to visit socialist nations and his strong relationships with leaders of non-Catholic Churches and non-Christian faiths (ecumenism) were considered by some to be proof that he was "liberal." In any event, his diverse views showed that political labels of "liberal" and "conservative" could not be so easily applied to religious leaders. Image:John paul 2 coa.svg.png
  • Originally the Pope was portayed as an grumpy, old conservative man speaking in Pig Latin. In later episodes he was depicted as some kind of rock star. The church leader wore sunglasses, sometimes played guitar or wore jeans. He spoke with an American accent and used phrases like "Yo..." and "Hey man". Sometimes he even claimed to be an atheist. He also appears towards the end of the Genesis "Land of Confusion" Music video playing a guitar.
  • John Paul II has been widely acclaimed as one of the most influential leaders of the twentieth century. It is widely held that he was instrumental in ending communism in his native Poland and eventually all of Europe as well as significantly improving the Catholic Church's relations with Judaism, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Anglican Communion. Though criticised for his opposition to contraception and the ordination of women, as well as his support for the Second Vatican Council and its reform of the Liturgy, he has also been praised for his firm, orthodox Catholic stances in these areas.
  • Pope John Paul II was America's Pope. He is best known for apologizing to the Jews for the One True Church's major role in knowledge of accidental walk-on role in the Holocaust a little misunderstanding they should have gotten over a long time ago. John Paul (or "Pope Johnny", as he liked to be called) was a great friend to The Greatest President Ever, and the two shared many fun weekends together drinking Jesus Juice and endorsing the bombing of Palestinians. Anyone who says that John Paul II was a liberal a moderate or worst of all to good to classify is a dirty liar!
