The House of Anemas was an important royal and ducal house of Greek origin. It was a cadet branch of the Palaiologos dynasty, as its founder Stephanos I of Nicaea was a bastard son of the reigning emperor Andronikos III Palaiologos. The head of the house had been granted the Hereditary Theme of Nicaea, and after the fall of the Empire on the muggle world, the Theme evolved into a Kingdom. The Anemas and the Palaiologoi lines would eventually merge with the marriage of Eudokia Palaiologos, the granddaughter of Emperor Constantine XI, to Doux Alexios II of Nicaea.
