When one accidentally falls down a cliff, Gerta offers to get it for him but falls and grabs onto a branch. Klock tries to help her but is too afraid so calls for help instead. Hefty, who is being chased by a rock falls down the cliff along side Gerta. He helps Gerta onto the cliff. Gerta's father appears and claims Hefty must marry Gerta, as it is a custom. Gerta says she wants to marry Klock but The King says Klock is too much of a coward.

Gerta leaves the alter and falls down another cliff. Hefty is too small to save her, so Klock creates a pair of wings and swoops down to save Gerta. The King sees this act of bravery and allows Gerta to marry Klock.
