  • Parley Edward Baer (August 5, 1914 – November 22, 2002) was an American actor in film, television, and radio.
  • He appeared in numerous film and television projects, but is perhaps best known for giving voice to the elf Ernie Keebler in the Keebler cookie commercials. He was a veteran of radio in the 1940s and 1950s, notably playing deputy Chester Proudfoot on Gunsmoke (with Vic Perrin and Lawrence Dobkin), Pete the marshal on the sitcom The Harold Peary Show, and various roles on Escape. In television, he appeared as Darby on The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet (1955-1961), and Roy Stoner, the mayor of Mayberry, on The Andy Griffith Show (1962-63). In 1991, Baer guest starred on Beverly Hills 90210 in Season 2's "A Walsh Family Christmas" with fellow guest stars Keene Curtis and Ann Gillespie. He also guest-starred with Curtis in Three's Company – even though they did not appear in the same episode.
  • Born in Salt Lake City, City, Parley comes from a circus performer, including working for Barnum & Bailey Circus as a ringmaster, before starting his radio career by working for Salt Lake City radio station, KSL in 1933, while studying drama at the University of Utah. He would later move to Los Angeles, California, where he would soon begin a career as a voice actor for radio programs, thanks in part to his fairly high pitch voice and Western twang. On November 22, 2002, Parley died from complications from a stroke at age 88.
