Colins penned a self-congratulatory puff piece in the July issue of global Gaming Business Magazine, titled "Pennsylvania Partners with The Public." The article touts the so-called "public input forums" the board held in the spring on the state's 22 slots license applicants. "For the first time in the history of regulated gaming in the United States, the public has been given an opportunity not only to acquire, first hand, the application information offered by those vying for operators' licenses, but also to have input into the selection process," Colins crowed.

Uh, Ms. Colins? Need we remind you that the board has not even provided the full files it has on each of the applicants? We seem to recollect that only the local impact studies have been made available. If we were mean-spirited, we'd also point out the board has been criticized for repeatedly and unnecessarily delaying routine media information requests. Instead, we'll just point out that the public hasn't been nearly as involved in the process as Colins suggested.
