| - During the War of the Ring, when the One Ring had awoken from its long sleep and was ready to return to its rightul master, Taramel was among the elves that refused to leave Middle-earth and chose to aid anyone who would fight against the armies of Mordor and Isengard. He accompanied Haldor of Lorien to Helm's Deep, a large valley in the north-western Ered Nimrais. There, he and his kin would aid King Théoden and his people in defending the keep from an army of 10,000 Uruk-hai that were dispatched by Saruman to wipe out the people of Rohan. Stationed at the Deeping Wall, he was seen with several elves when Aragorn walked pass him, informing all the elves to show no mercy to the Uruk-hai that were getting ready to charge. As the Uruk-hai were charging towards the fortress, including the Deeping Wall, Vinyasir and the elves loaded their bows and demonstrated their unmatched proficiency of archery, as they loosened devastating hails of arrows in seconds, killing many Uruk-hai. He was later killed during the Battle of Helm's Deep, but his death, like that of everyone who was slain in the battle, was honored by Théoden.
