Generally, bows from other factions (nomad bows, strong bows, war bows) are good if you can get them. It is probably wiser not to invest too much in a fancy war sword or the like (unless you're rich), and instead look to replace your melee weapon with a good two-hander or polearm, like a great long axe or war spear from a fallen comrade. Nord archers have no gloves or mounts.
