Hybrid elementals roam certain areas of Abyssea in Final Fantasy XI. Like the basic elementals found in Vana'diel, are notoriously aggressive to magic casters. Various types of these "hybrid" elementals cast from two elements instead of one, making them far more potent and deadly than their Vana'diel counterparts. Currently, no notorious monsters of this family have been identified, but speculation is mounting on their existence. Like the Elemental family, these hybrids will attack those who are unwary of where they choose to cast their spells, often with a very powerful spell of their own. It is unknown how these hybrids came to be, but it is speculated that the harsh Abyssean world forced the elementals of the time to combine in order to survive the new, devastated world.
