Komai no aware, 'the removal of things', was a Rokugani term to define those things that did not have 'place', and their deep hatred of all life. It was the antithesis of Mono no aware, the 'pathos of things'. Komai no aware embodied the Shadowlands, undead which existed past their time, outside of the Celestial Order, and demons that existed only to destroy and tear the mortal world down.
