Perry Chase was the son of the Daily Express's publisher, who begged his father for a chance to be a reporter. Considering his son wimpy and unintelligent, his father told him to continue covering high society's doings because "only real men can be reporters." Unbeknownst to his father, however, Perry was in fact the Press Guardian (originally "the Falcon"), crime-fighter and defender of the first amendment. Aided by his valet, Baldwin (who drives the car and pilots their bi-plane), and Cynthia Blake (his secretary).
