The game is not Open World, instead following a style of approach similar to that of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where the player selects a level from a Hub, in this case Peter's apartment, before playing a mostly linear level. It was natively designed for the 3DS, and later ported to the Wii. Beenox also developed this version.

It was released June 26, 2012 in North America and June 29, 2012 in Europe, on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Mobile, iOS, Android, and PC.
