Early roles were in R3 and Doctor Who but she also appeared in Dr. Finlay's Casebook and various others roles before she landed her most famous part as Thelma in Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads in 1973. Other starring roles have since followed in The Glamour Girls, Tom, Dick and Harriet, Sharon and Elsie, The Practice, Boon, Playing the Field, Waterloo Road, Doctors, Hollyoaks and EastEnders.

Other starring roles have since followed in The Glamour Girls, Tom, Dick and Harriet, Sharon and Elsie, The Practice, Boon, Playing the Field, Waterloo Road, Doctors, Hollyoaks and EastEnders. On stage she used her talents as a cellist when she took the lead role in Cello and the Nightingale in 2004. Her husband was the prolific Coronation Street director Brian Mills.
