It was Molander who first started to experiment with the changing of life to acquire greater power from his use of magic, but it was Ziraphelis - possessed by a Dire Spectre - who had turned him onto that path. After his murder, he returned as a Spectre fully capable of utilising his old magic, and haunted his study until finally dispelled by a mainland fisherman who sought to learn why the seas - until then kept calm by the combined will of the four Masters - had returned to their old, dangerous state.
