- Phil Roman is an American animator, director, producer, and founder of Film Roman. Having worked for Chuck Jones and Bill Meléndez (the latter of whom produced the first two TV specials on CBS), he split from Melendez to form Film Roman, which would produce all CBS specials from 1984 to 1991 as well as Garfield and Friends.

Roman worked for the division of MGM which created Chuck Jones' Tom and Jerry cartoons and later for Chuck Jones productions. He was lead animator on the 1966 animated television special How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Roman was also director of the first twelve Garfield animated television specials and of the 1992 feature-length cartoon Tom and Jerry: The Movie.

He directed some sequences of It's an Adventure, Charlie Brown and The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show. He was co-director of the feature-length movies Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown and Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back!!). Roman was also director of the first twelve Garfield animated television specials and of the 1992 feature-length cartoon Tom and Jerry: The Movie. Roman's company Film Roman produced The Simpsons and King of the Hill as well as the Peanuts and Garfield television specials. Roman left Film Roman in 1999 and founded Phil Roman Entertainment.
