Successful Outlaws can rise to the leadership of their own band and can be known as Brigands or Outlaw Chiefs. As such, they get the pick of the equipment available to the band and the first choice of spoils from any robbery. With the advantages of leadership, however, come some responsibilities; the leader is responsible for the welfare of the rest of the band and if they are dissatisfied with his leadership for any reason, they might well make their displeasure known in a fatal manner. There will also be many in the ranks who would like to take over the chief's position and, of course, while rank-and-file outlaws captured by the authorities may be hanged out of hand, a more imaginative fate might be reserved for the chief.
