He played junior hockey for the Laval Saints, Rosemont National, and Sherbrooke Castors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1969 to 1973. He was chosen 52nd overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft and 27th overall by the Chicago Cougars in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft. Rochon chose the WHA and played two full seasons for the Cougars. He then played for the Ottawa Civics, Denver Spurs, and Indianapolis Racers and one season for the Binghamton Dusters until he retired in 1978. In the WHA, Rochon played in 255 games and scored 71 goals and 60 assists.
