| - Eugene Joseph Abbott (March 31st, 1899 - April 15th, 1912) was a Third Class passenger of the Titanic. He died in the sinking. He was the son of Rosa Abbott and the brother of Rossmore Edward Abbott. They boarded in Southampton on April 10, 1912 and travelled as third class passengers on board the RMS Titanic with Ticket C.A. 2673. The family had just retired on the night of April 14 when they were awakened by the scraping sound on the side of the ship. The seriousness of the situation was not realized until a steward came around thirty minutes later. The group reached deck as the last of the distress rockets were fired and the last lifeboat was being loaded. Rhoda refused to enter the lifeboat, realizing her sons would not be allowed. When the ship broke in half, the three fell from the deck into the freezing water. Rhoda survived by climbing into Collapsible A, but Rossmore and Eugene were lost. While the body of Rossmore Abbott was recovered and was buried at sea on April 24, 1912, the body of Eugene was never found.
