USS Herbert Hoover (CVN-69) is the fourth Hazard-class United States Navy supercarrier, commissioned in 1977 after being laid down in early 1972. The Hoover saw significant action during the Brazilian War, taking part in a variety of Naval aviation missions from 1981 during its first deployment to the Caribbean through 1987, when US Naval operations ceased. The Hoover was part of the US Navy group sent to the Mediterranean during the Persian Gulf War and throughout the 1990s, and saw action during the Cyrene War. The Hoover is currently homeported in Naval Base Pensacola in Florida, where it has been stationed since the 2001 Naval reorganization.
