Nate Quarter and his apprentice, Slip, worked there in return for sixty gladers a week and comfortable lodging. Weelum, the gatekeeper, was a good friend of Nate and helped to defend Nate from Branxford. When Branxford discovered that his father was about to disinherit him, he rigged a Phraxlamp to blow up Gremlop and Drew, along with his father. He then framed Nate and his friends for the crime, and they were forced to flee Great Glade.
