Albert Edward Lauder (1883-1959) was a local politician in the Southgate area. A member of Southgate Council, he was Mayor of Southgate in 1944-45. Lauder was the author of The Municipal Manual In his will he left a fund for the Albert Edward Lauder Prize which was "a prize or prizes of books to be awarded annually to the pupil or to be divided between two or more pupils at the secondary or grammar schools in Southgate for the best essay or essays on the necessity of abolishing war between nations."
