The Passion is the Christian theological term used for the events and suffering – physical, spiritual, and mental – of Jesus in the hours before and including his trial and execution by crucifixion. The Crucifixion of Jesus is an event central to Christian beliefs. The term the Agony of Jesus is more specifically applied to the Agony in the Garden, Jesus' action (Greek agon) praying before his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane; similarly to passion, agony has been extended to denote a frame of mind.
