Rogation Sunday is the traditional name in Western Christianity for the Fifth Sunday after Easter. Rogation is primarily the blessing of crops to protect them from mildew, but was also used as an opportunity to inspect the parish boundaries. The actual rogation was held on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following (the Thursday being Ascension Day). It seems that the practice of rogations came from pre-Christian Roman practices.
