Simplicity 2554; ca. 1937; Misses' and Women's Dress. Style 1 has a draped neckline and gathers below a shaped front yoke, which continues into a pointed yoke at the center back. (If crepe-satin is selected, the yoke may be made with satin side out.) Set-in long or short sleeves gathered at the top. Skirt is slightly flared and has seaming in the center back, continuing up to yoke line. Style II has plain long or short sleeves. Featured in Simplicity Fashion Forecast, October 1937, which says "the surplice neckline is smart again."
