Born into the Kular Clan, Krae was the only offspring of his mother’s to survive being born. All others in his clutch either failed to hatch or died a few minutes afterward. This caused a young Krae to largely keep to himself as he grew up. Perhaps because of this, Krae began to make a hobby of taking trophies from his kills, surrounding himself with signs of his accomplishments. He excelled in using melee weapons before eventually favoring a pair of double curved blades and became quite proficient in skinning the pelts off his kills. Despite his tendency to be a loner, Krae’s skills were noticed by a talented young Barabel named Rulnar, who invited him to be a part of his pack along with other impressive Barabels around their age, including Sila, Jerai, and Xranic. Krae agreed and before long, as a part of Rulnar’s pack, more and more Barabel in the Kular Clan began to recognize Krae and his accomplishments. For Krae though, the best thing about being a part of Rulnar’s pack was the beta, Jerai. He found himself falling for the female but unable to tell her how he felt. For years he harbored a secret longing for her as they hunted alongside each other. This continued to be the case right up to the point where the Barabel assassin, Skarrek, arrived on Barab I and was given informal control of Rulnar’s pack. Skarrek proved himself to be one of the most formidable Barabel Krae had ever seen as he not only brought prestige to Rulnar’s pack, but also ended up changing the political landscape of Barab I. Unfortunately for Krae, Jerai also seemed quite smitten with him although Skarrek didn’t seem to notice or return the sentiment. After Skarrek left the planet, Krae resolved to tell Jerai how he felt lest he risk losing her to someone else. The perfect moment never arrived in time as a scant few weeks later, Skarrek returned to Barab I looking for volunteers to follow him into Xen’Chi territory. To Krae’s dismay, Jerai leapt at the chance to join him. Although Krae had no real desire to leave the planet or join up with Skarrek, he volunteered to go so he could stay with Jerai. Throughout the numerous battles with the Xen’Chi, Krae has strived to make himself appear worthy in Jerai’s eyes before he tells her how he feels. Unable to compete with a force like Skarrek on the battlefield, Krae has found a niche in interrogation. His expertise with a blade has contributed greatly in his ability to get answers out of even the most stubborn enemies.
