Elizabeth Daphne Muldoon (née Pau; born April 14, 1968) is a British Liberal Democrat politician and the current Mayor of London. She came to prominence as press secretary of the Speaker of the House of Commons before her election to Member of Parliament for Solihull in 2005. She came to prominence as press secretary of the Speaker of the House of Commons before her election to Member of Parliament for Solihull in 2005. In her cousin Alexander Pau's Liberal Democrat front bench, she served as Shadow Minister for Transport from 2009 to the 2010 and Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from 2010 to May 2012. In September 2011 she was chosen as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the 2012 London mayoral election, and won the election by 92,719 votes over Labour nominee Ken Livingstone and 438,880 over Conservative nominee David Willetts. She resigned her place in parliament to serve the role. Muldoon is the eldest of the two daughters of Sir Gary Pau, Executive Director of UNICEF. Her younger sister, Fiona, is an oboist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
