After a reasonably good run of form, albeit a brief one, Rovers were brought back down to Earth with an emphatic 3–1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon. The Pirates, who were missing eleven members of the senior squad through injury, started the game with defender Adam Virgo playing as a makeshift striker and forward David Clarkson in midfield. Things went from bad to worse when Garry Kenneth put the ball into his own net on the 20-minute mark, then Rashid Yussuff and Will Antwi made it 3–0 with little more than half an hour gone.

Things went from bad to worse when Garry Kenneth put the ball into his own net on the 20-minute mark, then Rashid Yussuff and Will Antwi made it 3–0 with little more than half an hour gone. Rovers improved somewhat after the break, but it took until the 73rd minute for them to make a breakthrough, with loanee Tom Eaves scoring from a spectacular long-range shot. Any hopes The Gas had of staging a comeback were dashed ten minutes later when Tom Parkes was sent off for a second bookable offence.
