The Galactic National Coalition, also called the National Coalition or just the Coalition, abbreviated GNC, was a government formed after the collapse of the Infinite Empire sometime before 25,060 BBY, based in the Core Worlds and Colonies. It was a parliamentary coalition, led by a president and a prime minister, along with the National Parliament (which included the National Senate, the upper house, and the National Assembly, the lower house). It was also the first government to use Coruscant as it's capitol. The Coalition was known to have had the highest living standards in that era, as well as one of the most advanced militaries.

It was a parliamentary coalition, led by a president and a prime minister, along with the National Parliament (which included the National Senate, the upper house, and the National Assembly, the lower house). It was also the first government to use Coruscant as it's capitol. The Coalition was known to have had the highest living standards in that era, as well as one of the most advanced militaries. During the Unification Wars, a series of conflicts among different factions that broke out to fill the power vacuum left by the fall of the Rakatans, the Coalition expanded eastward away from the galactic core; into the Inner Rim and beyond. The Coalition warred with several other factions, most notably the Askajian Empire. At the end of the war in 25,053 BBY, it was one of the founders of the Galactic Republic. Centuries later, some historians viewed it as an early version of the Republic. The Coalition had fairly large reserves of fuel and raw materials, as well as foodstuffs. The economy was good and citizens had a high standard of living. As a result, technological advancement was fairly quick and the military received high quality equipment. Scientists of the GNC also reverse engineered the Rakatan hyperdrive, creating an improved version of it, allowing for more exploration and travel.
